There is added frustration for both the child and the family when attempts at normal remediation do not seem to produce any improvement. To make matters worse, the current level of assistance extended in Singapore schools does not fully meet the needs of these children.
Course objectives
This course will equip you with the resources and skills to detect and support children with learning disabilities, so as to help them integrate into a mainstream learning environment. This course will also equip you with the necessary skills to help children improve their articulation and pronunciation abilities.
Children with developmental speech disorders have difficulties producing speech sounds. The study of speech organs and articulators will equip you with the capability to rectify speech language difficulties, and the ability to impart the knowledge of phonology and phonetics to your students or children. This course will also increase your overall understanding of the English language and its origin.
