Bimal Rai
Bimal Rai is a trained Educational Psychologist, who has experience working with children with developmental issues and learning difficulties in Singapore and Australia. He is qualified in assessment and diagnosis of children with developmental disabilities, and more specifically of children with an autistic spectrum disorder.

As an Educational Psychologist previously with the Child Development Unit, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, he played a key role in programme development and training of other staff. Bimal was also actively involved in conducting parent training workshops. He developed the Social Stories programme, and was instrumental in co-developing the Visual Strategies, School Learning programme and the Structured Teaching programme. The P1 Prep programme, that looks into the transition process into mainstream school for preschoolers, was another recent initiative. He has also served as a teacher in special schools, and currently runs his own private practice.

He has received training in Structured Teaching, Picture Exchange Communications System and Relationship Development Intervention.


Denyse Tessensohn
Denyse Tessensohn has an honours degree in Law, is a Licentiate of the Trinity College of London for the teaching of English as a Second Language, and holds a Masters in Applied Linguistics. She has been teaching the Spoken English in Teaching course to trainee teachers at the National Institute of Education since 1996, and has taught improved Spoken English in Singapore schools, tertiary institutions and corporations since 1987.

She is the author of A* Spoken English for Adults, A* Primary Oral English Skills and A* 1000 Most Mispronounced Words in English. The columnist for the Today newspaper's popular "Say It Right" daily column, she is well-known in Singapore for her practical but uncompromising approach to good spoken English.


M. Prakalathan Kelaver
M. Prakalathan Kelaver has been working with the special needs community for the past 16 years and still continuing in educating society in understanding and accepting individuals with special needs. He completed Bachelor of Science in Education (majoring in Special Education, Mental Retardation) and Master of Education (majoring in Special Education, Emotionally Disturbed) at the University of Central Oklahoma, United States. He has his certification from State of Missouri, United States, Special Education (K -12). He is currently working as the Principal at St.Clare School for Special Education. Prior to this, he was the Vice Principal at Genesis school. He also had worked as a special education teacher in the public schools in the United States.

Currently, he is still working with individuals with various disabilities such as the Autistic Disorder Syndrome, ADD and ADHD, Dyslexia, Learning Disabilities, Behavior Disorder, etc. He also conducts various seminars and training programmes that include Crisis Prevention Training, MANDT Training, Aggression Replacement Training, TEACCH ( Treatment and Education of Autistic And Related Communication Handicapped Children), Asperger’s Syndrome Seminar, Integrating The Neurological and Emotional Development of the Child and 101 Ways To Support A Child With Dyspraxia.


Vasudavan Govindasamy
Vasu Govindasamy graduated from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Communication Sciences and Disorders, and a Master of Science in Speech-language Pathology under the scholarship of the National Council of Social Services (NCSS). He is the clinical director at Communication for Life.

An ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist, Vasu has also earned ASHA’s Certificate in Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP), the highest preparation for the profession.Having been a school-based and a medical speech pathologist in both Singapore and the US for more than 10 years, Vasu sees patients of various ages. His clinical service focuses on children with speech delay, motor-speech disorders, various pediatric oral-sensory motor and feeding/ swallowing problems, genetic syndromes/chromosomal disorders, craniofacial disorders, autism, hearing impairment, learning disabilities, hearing auditory /language processing deficits (APD), dysarthrias, dyslexia, and ADHD.

He is also the only certified Speech-language Pathologist in Singapore who is also trained as an Auditory-verbal Therapist (AVT). He works with the National University of Singapore’s speech and language pathology programme as a clinical supervisor and tutor. He is the consultant at Ovspring, a developmental clinic and St. Gerard School in assessing and treating children with all kinds of disabilities. He frequently conducts workshops and conferences locally and in the regional countries.

Bachelor of Applied Social Science (Counselling)

Graduates following Advanced Diploma in Counselling qualification will be granted advanced standing, equivalent to 12 Modules of the Bachelor of Applied Social Science (Counselling) from ACAP.
